03-06-11 Congrats to Matt LaVine for taking first place honors with a score of 170. Followed up by Gordon with 165 pts and then Steve Montgomery with a score of 155. Nice job top 3. Had a few new faces and they did very well. Corey again made it challenging and fun for all. Thanks Corey, Paula and Buz for having us out. We really do appreciate your hospitality. A special thanks go out to Mike at Hunters Outpost for sponsoring the match. Without people backing us up like this, we would not be able to do what we enjoy. Thanks to everybody that makes it happen.

Course of fire will be 20rds and we will limit it to 21 shooters. First 21 to email me will be given a spot. I will be out of town from 12-27-10 until 01-02-11. 12-5-10 Scores are updated and a mistake occurred. First place was Mark B. with a score of 285. Second was a tie between Ross N. and Roger C. with scores of 280. Randall R. and Seth S. tied with scores of 280 but less (A) hits than Ross and Roger. Nice job guys!!!!!
12-3-10 We still have openings for the match on December 5th at Gunsite. Feel free to just show up and shoot. Entry fee is still $25.
11-28-10 We are in the process of securing the dates for the youth shooting clinic at Ben Avery and just wanted to get an idea of how many volunteers we will have. I think it would be great for us to get the youth in our families and communities involved in our sport. I am covering the cost of the ammunition and most of the steel targets. Please email me if you are available in March. It would be one of the first 2 saturdays in March?
11-8-10 Matt Lavine the winner again! Congrats to Matt for winning 2 matches in a row. Results and records updated. Thanks Cory, Paula and the Gunsite crew for a great match. Thank you.
December match will again be at Gunsite and STORM TACTICAL will be the match sponsor. Prizes for top 3 with first place also getting the $100!
11-06-10 We are in final stages of setting the date for the youth clinic at Ben Avery. We are still looking for volunteers to help. Please shoot us an email and we will sort it all out. It looks like the first weekend in March. Let me know if that conflicts with any other matches?
11-02-10 Round count for November 7th match has been upped to 40rds.
10-31-10 Great news! We have just got confirmation from Mark at www.stormtactical.com as series sponsor for the rest of the year and into next. He will attend the Nov. 7th match at Gunsite and will bring some of his product along with him. Please tell him thanks for his support as with all our sponsors.
10-9-10 Reminders for November 7th match at Gunsite. Everything will be trucked in on the range truck, that means to bring everything you need with you, on you. Targets are camouflaged and will be easier to locate with a compass. I will keep you up to date as I know of it.
10-6-10 Fixed the dates for the December match at Gunsite. We incorrectly listed it as Dec. 6th (Monday) and it should have been December 5th, 2010 (Sunday). Sorry for the confusion. We have also updated the directions to the match.
10-04-10 Records, results and standings have been updated on above link. Gina (aka Flower Power) has reset the record for high scoring female. She also finished 3rd overall in the match. We are reviewing the rules to see if flowers are allowed on the stock of the rifle. We will keep you up to date on that as it transpires.
10-03-10 Video has been done and is on the video link above. I will get the scores up tomorrow along with any pictures that we have got so far. Congrats to Matt on a stellar win. We also have done a winner take all cash purse of $100. We had 19 shooters and the weather was great, although it was said that we did not have enough wind. Second place goes to Steve M. and third place goes to Gina M. Congrats to the top three.
09-29-10 Rules update. If shooter chooses to shoot a secondary rifle at the longer distances, no points will be earned at that target. I should have finished putting the complete rule in the book, but stopped short of this clarification.
09-26-10 Rules have been updated to reflect a cailber limitation. We are going to restrict the maximum diameter of the bullet to .324". This is being done to save the steel targets. I will make the exception to allow the bullets over .324" on the 1000yd + matches. No velocity restrictions on bullets.
09-16-10 After much debate, I have decided to film the 1000yd target for posting on the Pics link on the top. This will help with after shot reviews for you guys to see other than looking through your scope. It may or may not work, but we are giving it a go.
09-13-10 I am looking for suggestions on COF for the next match at the normal spot. The scores would indicate that it is still tough enough, but I am afraid that it may be to repetitive for you guys. The November match at Gunsight will be totally different and I believe more challenging. We will limit the October match to 20 shooters with COF being 20 rounds. Please shoot me an email with suggestions at info@azprc.net.
We have updated the Calendar. Please visit it for new match information.
09-10-10 Here is some new information from Cory at Gunsite in regards to the November and December matches.
Just some notes on the Nov match at Gunsite.
4 firing positions with four targets at each position. 32 rounds total. Each stage has it's own targets, no waiting for someone else to complete. As a result, we can also accept 25 shooters with no problems.
All POV's will remain at the classroom parking area, you will be transported to the firing point area by ranch truck. If you did not bring it with you, you won't find it there.
Briefing will be in the classroom at 0800, range cards with target location, range and angle will be provided. A compass may be of help locating the targets.
All shooting positions are only a few steps off the road, the entire line is essentially flat and about 200 yards from pos 1 to pos 4.
The December match will be an totally different location, but similar overall conditions.
We are trying to see how many guys are interested in a 1200+ match. Same format, just longer ranges. So far we have 5 guys interested. Please shoot me an email and I will put you on the list.
09-05-10 Congrats to Tim Milkovich for winning his second match! He is running away with the 2010 points. The tiebreaker rule applied to this match. Tim and Ross both scored 60 points. Tim had 5 A hits and 2 B hits for a total of 7 hits. Ross had 4 A hits and 4 B hits for a total of 8 hits. That just shows that Ross actually hit more targets, but less A hits put him in second place. Nice job Tim, Ross and Corey!
Updated results and standings page. This was the first match with the 1000yd shot and we only had one shooter even hit the target, Mike Smith with his 6.5x47 Lapua. Nice job Mike! Again, the wind and positions were the deciding factor. It was tough and I can not wait until the next one.
I will update the Pictures as I get time to receive them. One more match up here and then we go to Gunsite! I can not wait. Please give me a call or email with any suggestions and we will review them for possible implementation.
I guess the only thing left is to work with the scope some more. That seemed to be a recurring problem.
Sand colored shirts should be available in the next couple of weeks. Shoot me an email and I will get them out as soon as I get them.
08-20-10 Calender has been updated with dates for October and November. November 7th will be first match at Gunsite. We are very excited about this and appreciate their hospitality to host the first match there! Please take the time to tell them thanks!
The Results and Standings page has also been updated to reflect points of the year down to 12th place. This was done to better reflect the shooters accomplishments during the matches.
We are also glad to announce that Elite Iron has come aboard on the Sponsor Links page. Please take the time to visit their site and tell them how much they mean to us.
08-17-10 We have also just received news that we will be holding some of the winter matches out at Gunsite! We are still coordinating the dates and will keep you up to date as it happens. Please contact them when you need any firearm training at www.gunsite.com.
Professional Marksman have just given us the go-ahead to mention that he is offering a discount to any shooter that attends his class in September if you mention us when you talk to him or schedule the class.
08-16-10 Next match will be Sept. 5th. I have also taken away one of the targets on the C shooting position and created a new target at 1000ish yards. It will be shot as a whole group from the parking area. It will be prone.
I also made a mistake on the final score sheet. Steve Montgomery and Gary Mowery actually tied for second. After the shoot I had said Gary was second and Steve was third, when in all actuallity, they had tied. 2010 scores have been updated to reflect that. Sorry Steve for the mistake.
I have also updated the NEW RECORDS on the Results page.
08-15-10 Congratulations to Mike for winning the last match. Most impressive is the fact that he hit 4 targets in a row with both first and second shots. Steve and Gary tied for second within 5 points of first! We also had 2 great showings from the ladies. Both the yearly points and the match results are updated. We have also updated some of the pictures in the slideshow above.
I would like to thank all the shooters for their patience and persistence. We have also received some new ideas and will be putting some of them into motion to better the program in the near future.
08-14-10 See you guys tomorrow. Drive safe and see you guys 8am sharp. Please call if you have problems finding it and we will get you up there. We may also have a news van coming up to cover us. I will try to give you guys a heads up when they make it.
08-08-10 Directions have been updated to help avoid any confusion. We currently have 12 spots filled and only have 3 more openings. If you have not got a confirmation email from me, we do not have you in it yet. We are in the final stage of getting match sponsors and will keep you updated. Shirts will be ready by the next match and will be $20.
07-26-10 Updated Results and Standings page. Only 3 more weeks until the next match, let me know if you want in. Send me an email to info@azprc.net and I will put you on the list. Remember, the shooter with the most yearly points will be winning a class with the best instructors in the country at www.professionalmarksmen.com ($1200 value).
07-20-10 Shirts will be available in 2 weeks for anybody that is looking for them. We have initially ordered 20 (10xl and 10xxl). Let me know if you want a different size and I will add them to the order. They will be $20 and I will have them at the next match. Shirt logo (on the left) will be on the back with www.azprc.net on the front left. They are first come, first serve!
07-19-10 Rules are now updated or ammended and date is set for August match. We were thinking of starting at the same time, but are open to starting earlier. Let us know. And for the guys that lost brass to the brass monster in the rocks, I will get them this week and get them back to you. We have got shirts on order and expecting them in the next week or so and the logo will appear on the slideshow above.
07-18-10 Well it went off and I feel it went great. It was tough for the shooters and we learned a few things about organizing the future matches to manage the time better. We will update you shortly after we get the verbage on the rules sorted out. We were lucky to have other experienced shooters (thanks Tim and MIke) that helped to bring a new perspective to what we needed to do to make it more enjoyable and time effiecient. I was just noticing that of the 120 rds allowed, only 11 found their mark. That is only 9.16% hits/shot percentage. Was it to much, just right or not tough enough?
Congratulations to Tim Milkovich for winning the inaugural match. 2nd place was a tie between Tom Payne and Phil Bates. 4th place was cleaned up by Mike. Conditions we good, but stages proved challenging and I may have underestimated how long it would take to shoot. But the guys gave me a break and with the way that we would like to continue the match, I should be able to shoot without prejudice. We have also updated the media section with pictures and the scores page with the current scores. 07-15-10 We have also added to the calendar, a similar event, held on saturdays at the Phoenix Gun and Rod Club. Their website is www.lrprs.com and they have it set up in a forum, which is kinda cool. Thanks to Tim at Lrprs for getting the information to us to expand the sport. He and his wife will be up this weekend if you have any questions of their organization.
07-14-10 I forsee it taking 5-6 hours of being up there. If you figure it by having each shooter be on station for 3 minutes and 10 shooters (30min) with 10 stages (300 minutes or 5 hours). If we can keep it rolling and moving fast, we may be done in a little over 4 hours.
07-13-10 Do not forget to bring a chair and plenty of water along with some sunblock. A couple of entrys have been shuffled around and we still have 2 openings. So bring a friend and let them shoot your rifle and ammo. Let me know if you would like to shoot further in the next match. I was thinking of this same distance, but am open to suggestions. Also, if you have a date in august that would be bad, let me know and we will try to schedule around it. I will be taking pictures of shooters in action, so if you do not want you name or picture, you must let me know first thing in the morning!
07-11-10 Dope in day went off without a hitch. We have uploaded a video and a few pictures. We still have 2 openings for next weeks shoot. I think the only person that learned anything today was me, and I did no shooting except for with the camera. We are also putting in a classifieds if you are in the market to buy or sell something.
07-06-10 Don't forget to bring a chair and some water. Shade is around and will be used, but it will still be in the 80's. Tune up session will only be at 600yds or 750yds. Let me know if you need ballistic help so I can be prepared ahead of time.
07-04-10 We have updated some of the media section with a couple new pictures and a video. Practice day is coming quick at only 7 days away. It is free time to goof off and last minute tune ups on your rifle skills. It will also be a good time to try to sort the wind a little. If you watch the video of today, you can see a flag in the top left corner and it will tell you a lot! Let me know if you are having problems and I will try to help. I will be there with the video camera again. I believe both guys that shot today learned a little. And then again, they may have not learned anything!
07-01-10 Big news of the week. Professional Marksman has stepped up for the series sponsor. In that process they are giving the shooter with the most points for the year (ending 12-31-10) a free scholarship to one of his 3 day long range precision classes!!!!!!!!!
Yep, a free 3 day class with the pros at the Whittington center in NM. This is a $1200 spot in his class. Please contact Jon Weiler at www.professionalmarksmen.com and enroll in one of his classes or thank him for his time and effort.
With this announcement other items will also change. We will now host a match within every 6 weeks. That will amount to at least 3 more matches after this one. We may be able to get a 4th in there.
